Max !

This page is dedicated to Max.  If you are lucky enough to have known Max, you know that he was a special dog!  He attended our pug play dates regularly. All the people and pugs knew and loved Max.

Here he is with his mom, Toni

Toni and Max were the best of friends.  Toni rescued Max from a shelter when he was 10 years old.  At the time, Max had major health problems.  It took a special pug mom to love and care for Max, and Toni was just perfect.  They did everything together.

Max enjoyed spending time in the garden...

He even took time to stop and smell the flowers...

Like most pugs, Max enjoyed afternoon naps.  Here he is in Toni's bed.

Here is a typical scene in the life of Max.  Taking a nap with mom, the love of his life.
Oh, and here he is resting again...

"Hey, hit the lights will ya?"

Max had an appreciation for fine food...

...and it showed!

Max loved non-pugs as well.  Here he is napping with his cats...

Max was a good family man.  Here he is with his sister.

Max enjoyed social functions.  This is a photo of him and Toni arriving at a pug event. Max was highly respected among his peers, he held a position of authority among them.
All the pugs would come and say hi to Max.  Here he is getting kisses from some other pugs.
But his favorite times were those spent with his adoring mom, Toni.  She knew and understood Max better than anyone. Although he became fully blind and deaf in his final years, he always knew where Toni was and she tended to his every need.
Max lived to be 15 years old.  This page is dedicated to him, his mom Toni, and their amazing years together. Although he is not physically here, he lived to a ripe old age, and lived the privileged life of a King!  He never suffered, Toni made sure of that.

Max still comes to see Toni, and also plans on attending the pug play dates.  He is enjoying his new sight and hearing from doggie heaven.

Take a lesson from Max...always be happy, appreciate those you love, take plenty of naps, enjoy fine foods, and live life to the fullest.

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.  You are his life, his love, his leader.  He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.  You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

Though Max's page has been up for a long time, the guest book part is new as of July 2005. Max is still very much part of our group, his mom talks about him all the time still, he was a local celebrity appearing in an actively running TV commercial, and his photo is in most of the best Veterinarian's offices in town - he was a regular visitor.

What a wonderful pet you had.  Wherever he is right now, he is watching over you and your family.

Thank you so much for having this tribute to your precious pug Max. I just lost my beloved Maggie this week.I rescued Maggie 7 years ago. She was a gorgeous pug, she actually looked a lot like Max, color and size. She had so many health problems even from the beginning (she was 3 when I got her). My being a nurse came in real handy ;o) Maggie had the sweetest personality, just a sweetheart and everyone who came in contact with her fell in love with her. I feel as if I have a knife in my heart, the pain of loosing her is so hard to bear. A part of my family is gone. Her heart finally gave out on her and by the time I got her to the vet there was no hope so my vet helped ease her journey along. I held her in my arms as she passed from this world & it was one of the hardest things I have have ever done. Maggie is buried in our back yard between the 2 big apple trees that she used to like to take rest breaks. I know that she is in heaven now--free of pain and I told her to wait for me there--and I know that she will--some day we will be together again.

What a gorgeous dog, he was so cute! We are both so glad he had a happy life. I'm going to include him in my school project!

Just wiping away the tears. I too rescued a pug around Max's age (~10 at the time). Henry has been with me for 2 years and going strong. When I rescued him from the shelter he had no hair on his back from neglect, a broken leg, and dislocated jaw. He is now healthy, spoilt, fat, hairy, and one of the loves of my life. Although he is deaf and can barley see he brings so much joy to my day, always smiling and cuddling me. He has to younger siblings, Vegas a 3 yr old pug and Rossi a 8 month old Rottie who he polices for me when they play up. A barking Henry is a sure sign of Rossi/Vegas being up to no good.

You are special to have rescued and cared for Max. We have a 2-1/2 year old female Pug and live in Southern California. Your dedication page caught me by surprise and has me in tears. You were lucky to have each other.
