Want to start a pug play group? Here's how!
1) Word
of mouth: Start by asking other pug owners that you know, or
meet at dog parks if they would be interested in a pug play group. Usually
the response is very positive.
2) Advertise: Create a flyer which you can
post at local feed stores and veterinarians offices. Make it something
that really catches people's eye, with the words "Pug Play Group" in
big letters across the top. Add a big pug graphic to the sheet. Set
up a way to contact the organizer, like a website, a phone number, or an
internet group account, which are free and easy to start. (To start a free
internet group go to http://groups.yahoo.com)
3) Inform other pug groups: There are
so many individual pug websites, rescue organizations, and pug discussion forums
out there. Once you get the group started, post a message on a few of them
introducing you and the group. Be sure to let them know your location.
That's it. Our group started this way. We had about 15 pugs at our first gathering, and today we have about 120 pug owners on our email discussion board. We have anywhere from about 6 - 50 pugs in attendance at any given play date. Though it only takes one person to start, it gathers momentum as more members join.
A dog play group can be started based on any dog breed.
